News Round Up - January 11th
In this edition:
Successful start to 2019
2019 started very well for WaldenTRI members at the Ashridge sprint duathlon:
Craig Dyce finished in 2nd place over all and category winner (1h 8m)
Georgina Dunlop - female 2nd place and category 2nd place (1h 18m)
Congratulations to both of you - looking good for the season ahead.
The excellent run coaching has resumed: Clare Thompson will coach 1st and 3rd Mondays; Craig Dyce 2nd and 4th Mondays.
Arrive by 7.45 pm at the leisure centre ready for an 8pm start.
You need to take a training token card, as these sessions cost just one token per person. The cards can be bought from Newdales or from our club web site shop.
Check out our web site shop and place your orders for any kit you will need for the forthcoming season. We collect your orders together then buy in one batch from the supplier, so there is a lead time involved. The sooner you order the better, to ensure it’s available for your first race.
Elaine Bramley has devised a new training programme for the next few weeks. This Wednesday our coaches were Phil Doel and Elaine: we warmed up, did some drills using flippers, then swam sets of 200m with just 45 second rest between. Well done Ryan Deamer who swam seven sets. There's plenty of room for more swimmers - meet at 7.45pm in the leisure centre lobby for these challenging and enjoyable sessions.

Our AGM takes place on Tuesday 22nd January 2019 at Saffron Walden Golf Club. The meeting will commence at 19.30 when light refreshments will be served with the AGM commencing at 20.00. We will also be presenting the club championship trophy during the evening.
A detailed agenda will be circulated on the evening along with the minutes of the 2017 AGM. Items that will be included are reports from the Chair and the Treasurer who will present the accounts.
In accordance with the Club’s Constitution, all the positions for officers of the Club are re-elected by members at the AGM. Our current secretary and club captain have indicated that they will be standing down. The roles of vice chair and head coach are also vacant as they were unfilled last year. Without sufficient members on the management team the club will be unable to function it is therefore imperative that club members come forward to stand for the roles.
For further information on the roles of the officers please contact Kate Bozianu or any other member of the Management Team. We invite you to consider standing for one of the positions or to support someone else who is considering doing so.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the AGM - it is a vital part of the functioning of the club. Please try and come along: this is your club and your chance to influence how it is run.
Great news about our Saffron Walden sprint triathlon of 12th May - 137 people have already signed up. This is remarkable and bodes well for yet another sold-out race.
Please put the date in your diaries, as we ask all club members to help out on the day with setting up, marshalling, registration, etc.
