Swimming

Walden Tri 23-06-2013 (110)

We have pool time twice a week at the Lord Butler Leisure Centre for coached sessions. We cater for most standards but are unable to coach non-swimmers.

Sessions are held on:

Monday 20:30 - 22:00 We have half the pool during this session and therefore capacity to take up to 10 swimmers. The session is coached until 21:30 after which you can either get out or use the last half hour by extending your swim or doing a longer cool down.

Wednesday 20:00 - 21:00 For this session we have the whole pool, the session is coached for the whole hour but the pool reopens to the public at 21:00. During some sessions there may be the opportunity to be filmed whilst swimming and review this with a coach.

Please remember to arrive 15 minutes before the session starts to give yourself time to get changed and be in the water at 20:30 ready to start the session.

Note: there is no training on Bank Holidays.

Swimming Sessions - Final Quarter of 2015

Below are links to the swim sessions for the final quarter of 2015. They have been put together for the club by Philip Hatzis from Tri Training Harder and are available here for those that want to see what is planned for a session or who are unable to attend a session and wish to print them off and use them during their own swim.

As we go into the Winter the focus has moved to endurance, technique and recovery from race season. Monday sessions will focus on endurance, whilst Wednesday's will have more of a technique focus looking at good body posture, body alignment, rotation and catch mechanics.

During December there will be a four week break from coached sessions designed to give athletes a chance to rest and recover from the season and also give the coaches a break too. However if you still wish to use the pool it will be available and someone will be there to clip sessions cards. It will be important during these sessions that members self select the appropriate lane and discuss with others in the lane what they plan to do, for those that want them some session plans will be available pool side.

Swimming Sessions

Below are links to the swimming sessions for the first quarter of 2015. The have been put together for the club by Philip Hatzis from Tri Training Harder.

The sessions rely on understanding your Critical Swim Speed (CSS) and using fins will help with drills and a tempo trainer will help you swim at your CSS. You can see videos of all the drills on the Tri Training Harder You Tube Channel

To get the most progress from the plan, if you are unable to attend a session we suggest you print the session and follow it yourself.
