This year we have a full schedule for our 10 mile TT course! The TT gives you the opportunity to test yourself with other riders from WaldenTRI and from various other clubs and cycling organisations which means more friendly competition and more camaraderie.
If you are new to time trials then I strongly urge you to have a go regardless of your perceived abilities. Time Trials work on the principle of launching one rider at set intervals with the fastest going last. The idea is that you try to avoid being caught by the riders behind. By doing so, you learn to push your limits, build your fitness with High Intensity Training and learn how to endure the pain to achieve your own personal best. A great way to make big gains on your Triathlon bike leg
Parking and meeting point has changed: new venue is The Barn, Audley End Business Centre, which is signposted from the road. (next to The Forge). Please note the times listed below are the start times, please arrive 30 minutes before this time to allow for sign-in, warm-up and compulsory race briefing.
This year, the cost of TT must be paid in cash. There has been a price increase this year to ensure cycling levies are met. £3.00 for members and £4.00 for non-members.
Remember: rear light and helmet are compulsory. Shoulders must be covered, no tri suits, and no team replica jerseys. (these are CTT rules)
Results and a leader board will be readily available on the internet for you to track your progress and of course watch your times getting quicker and quicker.

At last! The traffic lights at Gt. Chesterford have been removed so our TT of 5th July will go ahead.
A number of members are keen mountain bikers and for the last few years have competed in the Thetford ‘Dusk till Dawn’ race and both the Thetford Summer and Winter Series.
For more information about mountain biking, please have a word with Liam Brook in Newdales, Saffron Walden. For the last few years, Liam has organised a very popular long weekend of mountain biking in Coed y Brenin, Wales.
A cool, damp, blustery evening didn’t put off 18 hardy souls for some good racing, although the conditions did make for slower times.
It was also good to see riders from Velo and Stortford Tri, some new faces and some old(!) faces.
My thanks to Luke SCORER for assisting on the night and our next event will be held in two weeks time (24th July 2014). Please arrive in good time for registration at 19:00, bikes ready to go, lights front and back.
We still need assistants for the two AUGUST TT’s, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are available (7th & 21st). Reminder, these two events will start earlier (registration at 18:45) due to the failing light.
I was also reminded about the Stortford Tri mid-week duathlons (swim/run) held at REDRICKS Lake in SAWBRIDGEWORTH. Please see their website for dates and full details. These are excellent race training sessions, fun and easy to get to, please support them if you can.
We were blessed with near perfect weather on the evening of 12th June for the second TT and this encouraged 28 riders out. Once again we had a good turn out from the ladies and a few novices as well. The road surface while still coarse is settling down well.
The next planned TT is on Thursday June 26th with registration at 7.00pm and starting at 7.30pm prompt.
Many thanks to Jess and Steve for marshaling and time keeping.
After the unfortunate need to cancel our TT on the 15th, 22 riders turned up for the first event of 2014. The weather became a little overcast and there were grumblings about iminent rainfall, which thankfully failed to materialise. It was great to see around half the field were novices to TT and eight ladies(!) competing . . .
After a little ring rustiness with admin & briefings the first rider, Louise DENNING, was away just after 7:30, followed by Flis PLENT a minute later who unfortunately had to tow some city type on a Brompton all the way to Chesterford. Our final rider was away just before 8:00 so we only had to wait a few minutes before riders began returning. There were some very competitive performances and hopefully now you have benchmarked a time, improvements can be made over the series . . . there will be a prize!
If you would like a bit of training advice, a TT training partner or bike set up pointers please speak to the coaching staff or one of the TT team.
Congratulations to Mary BOWER for 'chicking' all the men in a time of 26:32, my apologies for not being able to give completely accurate times last night, the attached are as corrected.
Many thanks to Lucy & Howard for a great job of 'marshalling', looking forward to seeing you all in two weeks, same place, on time with lights please!
