South East region duathlon relays
Pete Thompson selected for England team
Final call - presentation evening / end of season party, 24th November 2018
SOUTH EAST REGION DUATHLON RELAYS
Many thanks to Craig Dyce for co-ordinating teams for this excellent event. Our club did very well: we fielded twelve teams of three (between juniors and seniors) and took six out of the nine possible podiums: 1st and 3rd in Male category, 1st and 3rd in Female category and 1st and 2nd in Mixed category. Well done everyone!
A special mention to Ben Bely, who raced twice by doing his own race then standing-in for Sam who was unwell and couldn’t go.
Craig also set-up a handicap system to create a competition within our club teams, which was won by Mike Passfield, Lem Lawrence and Ben Bely.
This is the latest of several events in 2018 in which we have entered a large number of club members, and with juniors and seniors together, and each event has been brilliant. We encourage everyone to take part in more of these next year.

Meet at 7.45pm at the leisure centre for the next coached run session. Craig will be the coach.
The run sessions cost one token.
Wednesday's swim session went very well: sixteen seniors attended, as well as the usual two full lanes of juniors. It was nice to welcome Lem Lawrence to his first swim coaching. Elaine had devised a challenging session plan which we worked through, which will continue for the next five Wednesdays. Still room for more, so why not come along and join in next week?
Meet at 7.45pm in reception.
PETE THOMPSON SELECTED FOR ENGLAND TEAM
As a result of his 1st place in the East of England Master's Cross Country Championships a few weeks ago and two 4th places in this summer's British Master's 10k and 5k Championship races Pete has - for the first time - been selected for the England master's cross country running squad. The race will be held in Swansea on Saturday 17th November. Pete says " this is a massive honour - I can't wait to pull that England vest over my shoulders!"
Good luck Pete, and let us know how you get on.
FINAL CALL - PRESENTATION EVENING / END OF SEASON PARTY, 24TH NOVEMBER 2018
As it stands the above event hangs in the balance. The club has lots to celebrate, however we currently do not have sufficient members attending.
We appreciate some of you just can't make it, however if you were intending to come please book your tickets before 10pm Sunday 11th November. We will then make a decision as to whether the event goes ahead.
Our club AGM will take place on January 22nd at the golf club, and will start with a buffet paid-for by the club. Last year the food was fabulous and there was so much we didn't get through it! The bar will also be open.
We really hope to see you at this meeting. There will of course be elections for committee positions and all roles are up for grabs, and we would love to welcome new people onto the management committee. A formal invitation will be sent in January.
After three very enjoyable years it will be time for me to hand over the job of captain to someone else. If you are interested feel free to talk to me or one of the current committee about what is involved: there are a few specific jobs such as this newsletter, but you can of course do the role in whatever way you wish. I have loved the role and highly recommend it. Kate intends to hand over the role of secretary after having done sterling work in the job for several years.
