Success from the outset for WaldenTRI
Finally the 2016 racing season has begun, and already there are two significant achievements for club members. Last weekend Michael Buchallet battled through windy conditions to finish third in the Anglian Water sprint duathlon (see photo) and Craig Dyce took first place in the Velopark duathlon. Congratulations to you both: what a great start to the season, and an inspiration to us all.
Meanwhile, I waded my way around the mud-fest that was the Hatfield forest park run on Saturday morning - a really nice venue and great fun. The race ends by running half way around the beautiful lake which is a lovely sight in the early morning spring sunshine.
Now is a good time to order your club kit for the forthcoming season. We have items in stock but some will need to be made to order, so you'll need to order asap to receive your kit in time for your races. Click here to view and order.
We are arranging a mini duathlon on Sunday 20th March at 11 am, based at the Gt Chesterford community centre. This will take the form of a practice event at a social level, uncoached (not a formal race) and will be a great opportunity to prepare for your season. Plus maybe a quick beer afterwards before your Sunday lunch. A donation of £2 per participant is requested, to cover the cost of using the community centre land for parking and transition. Places will be limited, so if you'd like to take part please email me as soon as possible to book your place. email@example.com
Here are the dates of this year's bike TT races. They were a great success in 2015 and I think we're all really looking forward to these. As usual we need volunteers to lead and help at the TTs to enable them to take place (3 per event at least) so please contact me asap with the dates if you are available to help: email firstname.lastname@example.org

5k / 10k race at Carver barracks airfield
We have been notified of a race on 3rd April which is a fund-raiser for Alzheimer's research. It would be nice to support this local event with a good turn-out from the club. You can enter online at www.RunnersWorld.co.uk. £10 in advance, £15 on the day, and the organisers have told us that all proceeds go to the charity.
Cambridge half marathon
Good luck if you are taking part in this huge race: 7000 entrants I believe. Have great race.
